How to create and manage components
Create Components
You’ll use Components when you want to apply structured Rules to one of your recommendation models. The Component Creator allows you to launch custom strategies from pre-defined templates while controlling:
- Eligibility: Which products are eligible to appear.
- Ranking: How products are ordered and prioritized.
Components combine eligibility logic and merchandising controls into a single configurable layer.
How to Create a Component
- Go to the Components tab.
- Click Create New Component.
- Fill out the required fields:
- Name: Give your component a recognizable title.
- Number of Items: Define the product count for the display.
- Description: Internal notes on the component's purpose.
- Base Strategy: Select your model (e.g., Recommended For You).
[!TIP] Once created, you can move into Advanced Customization to define specific product logic and fine-tune your merchandising rules.
Manage Components
The Component Table serves as your central command for all saved experiences.
Component Table Overview:
| Column | Description |
|---|---|
| Name | The unique identifier for your carousel or experience. |
| Status | Shows if the component is Active or Inactive. |
| Strategy Type | The underlying logic (e.g., Best Sellers, Personalized). |
| Actions | Quick access to Edit and Preview options. |
Available Actions:
- ✏️ Edit: Modify the rules or settings of an existing component.
- 🗑️ Delete: Permanently remove a component (requires a confirmation step).
- 🔍 Preview: Launch the component directly into the Playground for testing.
Edit Components
Follow these steps to update an existing configuration:
- Locate the component in the Component Table and click Edit.
- You can update any of the following parameters:
- Domains: Change where the carousel is eligible to appear.
- Base Strategy: Swap the core logic (e.g., switch from "Trending" to "New Arrivals").
- Advanced Customizations: Refine filters (e.g., exclude discounted items).
- Item Count: Adjust the total number of products displayed.
